AC1224-240

~240 × 240 cm (8 × 8 ft) walk-in anechoic chamber
The AC1224-240 is the standard-cross-section chamber in the AC1224 family. At roughly eight feet by eight feet, it sits in the practical middle ground for walk-in mmWave test chambers. AC1224-240 is large enough to work inside, and compact enough to fit into office locations.
EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED. NOTHING MORE.

Right-sized for mmWave

The AC1224-240 is designed from the ground up for mmWave. No legacy overhead, no repurposed low-frequency construction. The result is a chamber that performs where it matters and at a fraction of the cost of a full-metal anechoic chamber.

Most walk-in anechoic chambers on the market from the high-end brands were originally designed for lower-frequency work, and they carry the engineering costs that come with it: welded steel enclosures, heavy shielding, expensive assemblies. They are truly excellent chambers, but if your typical application lives at X-band and above for radar cross-section (RCS) measurements, antenna pattern characterization, 5G FR2 device testing, and beamforming applications, that is performance you are unlikely to need, which makes the AC1224-240 worth a closer look.

AC1224 CHAMBERS – KEY ADVANTAGES

Modular solution for mmWave

No legacy architecture, no unnecessary shielding. The AC1224-240 with 115 mm absorbers is designed specifically for 10 GHz and above. Need even lower? Check our 300 mm absorber option.

User-installable

Every panel and beam can be carried by two people. The heaviest panel weighs 24 kg. Assembly requires only hand tools: no cranes, no contractors, no waiting. A chamber your team has built is a chamber your team understands.

Fits where others cannot

An all-aluminum frame and lightweight panels keep the floor load as low as 60 kg/m². The AC1224-240 installs in attics, basements, raised floors, and older buildings that would never support a conventional chamber.

A CHAMBER FOR EVERY ROOM

Fits where other chambers cannot

The AC1224-240 goes where traditional chambers cannot. An all-aluminum frame and lightweight panels keep the floor load low, making it a practical choice for lofts, raised data center floors, and older buildings that would never support a welded-steel chamber.

One AC1224-240 is running in an attic in Silicon Valley, a location where commercial rent rates make every unused room an expensive liability. That chamber turned otherwise wasted space into a functioning test range.

Another AC1224-CUSTOM is installed in a low-ceiling basement beneath a Scandinavian laboratory, a space that would have ruled out any conventional chamber. Because panels are installed from the inside, the custom chamber could use the room effectively and fit with only 25 mm (1”) distance to each of the walls.

DESIGNED TO BE BUILT BY YOU

User-installable

All AC1224 chambers are designed to be handled by a small team of installers; two people will typically suffice (three makes it easier). The heaviest panel, with 115 mm absorbers fitted, weighs 24 kg. Assembly requires only hand tools, except the panel hoist, which is provided in the shipment.

Having your team install the chamber, or at least participate in the installation process, is a valuable experience: a chamber your team has built is one your team understands. Future reconfiguration, relocation, or expansion becomes something you handle on your own schedule, without dependencies on third-party movers.

The AC1224 family was deliberately designed from the ground up to deliver what we believe is the lowest lifetime cost of ownership of any walk-in chamber on the market.

The image above is from a relocation of an AC1224-240-5 from the original location in the customer’s attic to their new facility in Silicon Valley. It took 2.5 days, and you can read more about it here.

CHOOSE YOUR CHAMBER

AC1224-240 Configurations

Each AC1224-240 chamber is built from door, center, and end modules. If you need access from both ends, you can have door modules in both end of the chamber. The length/depth of the chamber is defined by the number of modules you choose to add.

An overview of external and internal dimensions for different configurations is available below. Contact us for further details.

EFFORTLESS ADAPTATION

Designed and manufactured by mmWave Test Solutions

All AC1224 chambers are designed and built by mmWave Test Solutions. Production runs in-house or through qualified suppliers, but design authority and manufacturing control always stay with us.

That we have full control over design and manufacturing matters when you need something slightly outside the standard. Cutouts for vent ports, mounting points for cameras or CCTV, concrete-floor-anchored pedestals: smaller modifications like these we can usually accommodate without moving to a full custom project.

We have made numerous tiny and enormous customizations in the past (that are not on our web pages), so if you have questions or ideas, please get in touch and let’s see how we can help you.
