The UNO5 is a spherical positioner designed for over-the-air (OTA) antenna measurements. It features a classical azimuth-roll configuration to ensure an optimal clear field of view. When integrated with a roll-capable antenna mast, the UNO5 Spherical Kit facilitates full spherical azimuth-roll-roll measurements, effectively preventing obstruction of the radiation path. Additionally, the UNO5 may serve independently as an azimuth-elevation positioner.
High-Quality Components and Precision Design
The UNO5 uses high-quality components, and the arm structure is precision CNC-machined from polymer plastics. All metal and motor parts are in the lower part of the arm design to minimize interference from metals and motors near the Device Under Test (DUT). The design prioritizes structural integrity, avoiding 3D-printed parts in favor of materials that maintain strength under load and thermal stress. A hollow slipring allows for uninterrupted arm rotations, reducing the risk of cable damage, and offers a center hole for passing RF cables or an RF rotary joint.
Versatile Configuration and Compatibility
In its azimuth-roll configuration, the positioner’s generous clearance accommodates DUTs up to 610 mm (2 ft.) in width, 200 mm (8”) in depth, and 10 kg (22 lbs.) in weight. Despite its suitability for benchtop chambers, the UNO5’s mechanical structure follows the precision and quality requirements for positioners designed for larger walk-in chambers. If used in large chambers, mmWave Test Solutions also offers pedestal designs compatible with the UNO5 azimuth-roll positioner and the standalone roll mast.
